Lexis Suites Team Doing Their Part as Islanders
In conjunction with the coming World Environment Day on June 5 and World Ocean Day on June 8, the General Manager of Lexis Suites Penang decided to roll up his sleeves and get sand between his toes as he lead his team members down to the stretch of beach that is adjacent to the hotel for another day of beach cleaning. The zealous bunch started as early as 7 in the morning and finally considered their job there is done at 2 in the afternoon. Throughout that time, they successfully cleaned up and beautify 5KM of the beach as bags after bags of littering were gathered into bags and rerouted to the proper disposal sites where they should have ended up to begin with.
Ever so diligent and responsible, the team members put extra effort into carefully categorizing and separating the recyclable materials from the thrash. “As islanders we “Penang lang” have always had a very special bond with the ocean. So I wanted to keep reminding every staff member of Lexis Suites Penang of the parts that we can play in preserving nature as engaged citizens.” Said Mr. Ben Ho. He then added that his team was at first overjoyed to find that the amount of littering they’ve collected seems to have decreased during their last few beach clean-ups, but was later reminded that it was merely a side effect of the many MCOs, CMCOs, RMCOs, and EMCOs and can’t be taken for evidence of how civic engagement among the general Malaysian community have evolved in the recent months.
