Penang and Langkawi Remain Popular Among Local Tourists
According to the Deputy Director of Tourism Malaysia Northern Region (TMWU), Siti Hajar Yunus, both Langkawi and Penang remained a popular choice among Malaysian tourists. According to their data, Langkawi that is under the pilot tourism bubble project has attracted 60,504 visitors between September 16 and October 6, 2021, while Penang has attracted 27,059 visitors at 14 specific tourist spots between October 11 and 19 alone. “With the lifting of interstate travel ban, the tourism sector is set for recovery. Tourism Malaysia Northern Region is responsible for boosting arrivals at all tourist attractions in this region, not just at locations normally popular with tourists.” Said Siti Hajar.
